GERANIUMS VS. JAPANESE BEETLES

Have a Japanese Beetle Problem?

Are Japanese beetles chomping on the leaves of your beans and peppers? Are they chomping holes in the leaves of your favorite roses?

Try this simple and beautiful solution

Buy a few flowering geranium plants. Set them out  among  your plants whose “hole-y” leaves indicate they are being victimized by Japanese beetles. Then wait.

Geraniums’ Secret Weapon

The heady scent of geraniums acts as a magnet to predatory Japanese beetles. They are drawn away from their usual bean, pepper, and rose leaf diet to the the irresistible geranium. Once they start eating its leaves, they can’t stop.

But the geranium carries a secret weapon.

Its leaves act as a narcotic on the unsuspecting beetles. They chomp, get dopey, and drop like flies on the ground , where birds can easily spot them and gobble them up!

TIP:  Keep a record of your geranium vs. Japanese beetle  battle in your garden journal. Note dates, results, and so on.
