PLANT COMPANIONS

Plan Your Plant Companions

You’ve undoubtedly heard the advice about planting marigolds with certain vegetables to deter pests, improve flavor, and so on. This is known as “companion planting.” The two companion plants help each other out. They are beneficial to each other. Fine, but exactly what vegetables make good companions for marigolds? And what other companion plantings  should a gardener know about?

I was fortunate to find the answer in an excellent blog post in home.bt.com.  The post is “Companion planting: What you should plant together to get the best out of your vegetable patch.” I would encourage you to read it. The post discusses various vegetables, plant by plant, telling which plants are its best companions and, on the other hand, which are its enemies. That is which plants the vegetable should not be paired with.

I have extracted the information and posted it in the table below for your reference.  Hopefully, the table will be of use to you in planning your next vegetable garden.
